• rebate on marked price is 10%.
• Tax on the remaining price is 4%.

The marked price of the laptop.

Solution

The buying price after to successive discounts is Rs. 712.80

The first discount is 10%, Whereas

The last discount is 4%.

Since,

For us to get the marked price we need to do reverse calculations

$\sf \: calculations :$

$\sf \: 712.80 = 96\% \\ \sf {?} = 100\% \\ \sf \:100 /96 \times 712.80 = 742.5$

$\sf742.5 = 90\% \\ \sf{?} = 100\%$

$\sf100/90 \times 742.5 = 825$

825 represents the price inclusive of the tax which is 10%

The marked price is therefore :

$\sf825 = 110\%$

$\sf {?} = 100\%$

$\sf \: 100/110 = 825 = 750$

So the marked price is Rs. 750.
