it's not volcanic eruption that triggers an earthquake but it is an earthquake the causes a volcanic eruption.
earthquakes are due to movement of tectonic plates. due to this movement the molten magma erupts and reaches the earth's surface as lava through the volcano.

The earthquakes are caused due to the movement of magma. The Magma exerts pressure on the rocks until it cracks... Then the Magma squirts into the crack and start the process again........ Everytime the rock cracks . It makes small vibration which is also known as earthquake....
