Given info : Volume of 100 liter gas increases to 120 liter at constant temperature and 10 bar external pressure.

To find : The workdone by the system is ..

solution : work done at constant temperature is given by, W = P∆V

here Pressure , P = 10 bar

and change in volume , ∆V = V₂ - V₁

= 120 litres - 100 litres

= 20 litres.

now workdone by the system = 10 bar × 20 litres

= 200 litre bar

but given, I litres bar = 24.21 cal

= 200 × 24.21 cal

= 4842 cal

Therefore the workdone by the system is 4842 cal.
