Volume of a cylinder of height 8 cm is 1232 cm^3.Find the curved surface area and total surface area

Solution :


Finding  the radius of the cylinder

We Know that ,

Volume of Cylinder = \pi r^2h

1232 = 22/7 * r^2 * 8

⇒ 1232 = (22 * 8)/7 * r^2

⇒ 1232 = 176/7 * r^2

⇒ r^2 = ( 1232 * 7)/176

⇒ r^2 = 49

⇒ r = √49

⇒ r = 7


Finding the Curved Surface area of the Cylinder

Curved Surface area of the Cylinder = 2 \pi rh

⇒ 2 * 22/7 * 7 * 8

⇒ 352 cm^2


Finding total Surface area of the Cylinder

Total Surface area = 2 \pi r ( r + h)

⇒ 2 * 22/7 * 7 ( 7 + 8 )

⇒ 44 * 15

⇒ 660 cm^2


Therefore , Curved Surface area is 352 cm^2 and total Surface area is 660 cm^2
