Volume of a substance at normal atmospheric pressure
is 3500 x 10^-6 m². What will be its change in volume at
the pressure of 25 standard atmosphere? Given that bulk
modulus of the substance is 10^11 N.m^-2.

Explanation:

The bulk modulus of substance is given by

K=−V(dP/dV)

where dP is the change in pressure and dV is the change in volume so

11 Nm²=−3500×10⁻⁶m³ × [(25−1)×1.013×10⁵Nm²] /dV

dV=−[3500×10⁻⁶×24×1.013×10⁵] / 11 m³

dV=−773.56 m³

So volume is decreases by -773.56 m3
