Imagine each tiny patch of the sphere's surface as the base of a tiny pyramid (or cone or any such tapering figure) of height rrextending to the center of the sphere. In this way, we see that the volume of the sphere is the same as the total volume of a bunch of pyramids of height rr and total base area equal to the surface area of the sphere.
