we have to find the volume of water added to convert 0.5 L aqueous solution of 0.3 M glucose into 0.2M glucose.

solution : concept of dilution : during dilution process, no of moles of solute remains constant.

so initial no of moles of solute = final no of moles of solute.

but no of moles of solute = molarity × volume

so, M₁V₁ = M₂V₂

here, M₁ = 0.3M, V₁ = 0.5 L , M₂ = 0.2M , V₂ = ?

⇒0.3 × 0.5 = 0.2V₂

⇒V₂ = 0.75 L

⇒0.5 L + water added = 0.75 L

⇒water added = 0.75 L - 0.5 L = 0.25 L

Therefore volume of water added to aqueous solution of glucose is 0.25 L.
