Given:

Area of the square cloth = 9 m²

Number of square-shaped scarves needed = 16

To Find:

The length of the scarf

Formula needed:

\text{Area of a square } = \text{Length}^2

Solution:

Find the area of a scarf:

\text{Total area of cloth} = 9 \text { m}^2

\text{Number of scarves} = 16

\text{Area of 1 scarf} = 9 \div 16

\text{Total area of scarf} = \dfrac{9}{16}  \text { m}^2

Find the length of a scarf:

\text{Area of a square } = \text{Length}^2

\text{Length}^3 = \dfrac{9}{16}  \text { m}^2

\text{Length} = \sqrt{\dfrac{9}{16} }

\text{Length} = \dfrac{3}{4} } \text { m}^2

\boxed {\text{Answer : } \dfrac{3}{4} \text { m}^2}
