Hello there!

The Distributive Property allows us to multiply the number outside of the parenthesis by all numbers inside of the parenthesis.

For example;

2(3 + 5)
2(3) + 2(5)
6 + 10
16.

Let's apply this to our current expression.

5(W - 9)
5(w) + 5(-9)
5w - 45 is our final expression (when multiplying a positive by a negative, the product is negative).
We removed the parenthesis by multiplying 5 by all inside items of the parenthesis.

I hope this helps!
