W what happens if raincoat is prepared with cotton thread why it happens so

If the raincoat is made up of the cotton thread then it would fail to fulfill the motive because cotton thread would not be able to protect the person from the rains and it would also even soak the water making the person even more uncomfortable and prone to certain diseases.
