Waheeda bought a watch for ₹3300 including a tax of 10%. Find the price of the watch before VAT was added.

SP OF AIR COOLER= RS 3300

VAT ADDED = 10% 

LET THE MP BE X 

SO 10X/100 + X = 3300

      10X +100X/ 100  = 3300

       10X + 100X = 3300 * 100 (TRANSPOSIN 100FROM LHS TO RHS )

      110X = 330000      

SO X = 330000/110

  X = 3000 RUPEES

SO PRICE OF AIR COOLER BEFORE INCLUDING VAT IS RS.3000

Let the cost of watch before VAT was added be x. Then,
according to question
x + 10 % of x = 3,300
x + 10/100 × x = 3,300
x + x/10 = 3,300
10x+x/10 = 3,300
11x/10 = 3,300
x = 3,300×10/11
x = 3,000
Hence, the price of the watch is ₹3,000 before VAT was added.
