Justice is intimately connected with fairness: the idea that people should get what they deserve. Benevolence and mercy may lead us to give people more than they deserve but justice insists on their getting all and only what they deserve. This can run from having someone keep a promise she made to you to being paid what you earn to being given an accurate grade to having a trial run by due process and getting the verdict and sentence you deserve.Justice isn't just something external that is used in societies, but is an internal or even natural or condition that can be found almost anywhere.
