A transpiration pull could be simply defined as a biological process in which the force of pulling is produced inside the xylem tissue. This force helps in the upward movement of water into the xylem vessels. In this process, loss of water in the form of vapours through leaves are observed.

Answer:

When transpiration takes place, the leaf cells become less turgid as they lose water in the  process. This causes the entry of water into the cells from the veins through osmosis. The veins  pull water from the stem, which in turn pulls water from the roots. This process is called  transpiration pull. Transpiration pull works because water forms a continuous column in the xylem.  This process is very much like drinking by using a straw.
