I will send your animated GIF to the student and see if it makes sense with what he's seeing. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

UPDATE: The classroom teacher said that the work does show up when the student views the assignment as the Animated Gif shows, however, for MOST kids, it all shows up in the same place (like the teacher view above) but for just two kids, some of the assignments don't show there. Why would it be different?
