My cousin is my role model. She is very talented. At the same time she is very generous. I wish I could also be like her.
An inter school rangoli competition was going to be held in the Public School on the occasion of teacher's day. Actually every year on teacher's day there is an inter school competition in some school or the other. It can be an elocution, debate, music, dance, essay writing or rangoli competition.
A preliminary rangoli making test was held in each school. Those who passed in it were chosen to represent their school in the competition. She started preparing a week in advance. She went to the library and collected designs for their contest. She also asked her mother and aunties to give her some nice ideas for the same.
Every morning she used to get up early and make ragolis outside her house. She practised all the designs. The morning air helped her to think better and she would get a lot of new ideas.
On the day of the competition she was fully prepared and confident. She reached the venue 15 minutes early, so that she could settle down properly and be ready to draw the rangoli with a composed mind.
There was a lot of excitement. Each one was eager to do her best. The bell rang. The students went and sat in the hall in the respective places allotted to them. The teacher came and wished them good luck. There was pin drop silence. Each one started making their rangoli. Time just flew. The bell rang and it was time to leave the hall.
The results were to be announced the next day. The students eagerly waited for them. Next day the principal announced the results.
My cousin won the first prize, which is a cash prize of Rs. 10,000. She donated it to the orphanage near her school. She said that "We go there often to do social work. It is my greatest pleasure to offer the money for their welfare."
