Length of the quare = 10cm

Area of the square =

= (10cm)²

= 100cm²

Radius of the circle = 3.5cm

Area of the circle = πr²

= 22/7 × (3.5)² {The value of pi = 22/6}

= 22/7 × 3.5 × 3.5

= 22 × 0.7 × 3.5 {Cancelling 7 and 3.5}

= 53.9cm²

Area of the shaded portion,

= Area of the square - Area of the circle

= 100cm² - 53.9cm²

= 46.1cm²
