1.Sulphur mainly occurs in the earth's crust in the combined state primarily in form of sulphates and sulphides. Sulphates: Gypsum, CaSO4. 2H2O; epsom salt, MgSO4. 7H2O; baryte, BaSO4, etc.

2.The thermal stability of the hydrides of group 16 elements decreases down the group, i.e., H2O > H2S > H2Se > H2Te > H2Po.

3.In h2o there is hydrogen bonding because oxygen has a high electronegativity(only second to flourine). so, the hydrogen atoms from other molecules of water forms a hydrogen bonds with oxygen resulting in intermolecular hydrogen bonding. ... therefore at room temperature h2o is a liquid and h2s is a gas.

Answer:

1)Sulphur mainly exists in combined form in the earth’s crust primarily as sulphates [gypsum (CaSO4.2H2O), Epsom salt (MgSO4.7H2O), baryte (BaSO4)] and sulphides [(galena (PbS), zinc blends (ZnS), copper pyrites (CuFeS2)].

2)the order of thermal stability of hydride is:

H2O>H2S>H2Se>H2Te

this is related to the bond dissociation enthalpies of the E---H bonds where E stands for the element

3)In water O---H bond is more polar than S---H bond. This leads to inter molecular hydrogen bonding in water molecules while it is almost absent in the molecules of H2S
