The poet thinks that animals are far better than humans. The animals are calm, content and placid. They are not stressed about their condition nor do they whine about their life problems. They don't weep and loose their sleep for their sins. They do not preach about their duty to God. They're not worried about what the future will hold. They do not have extreme desires or greed to own materialistic things. They don't believe that they have to kneel down to their ancestors and pray for them. Every animal is satisfied if not happy and respectable equals.

Animals stand by and for the values humans have long forgotten as civilisation has corrupted and instilled greed in us. The poet himself admits that he too has negligently dropped the values.
