Dodong was not happy or contented with his life. He initially wanted to marry Teang at a very early age and his ultimately received his father's approval. Since after marriage , or rather nine months, their first child was born named Blas. Every year, she would give birth to a new child.
Even though Teang did not complain, still she even started to feel that she shouldn't have married Dodong so young and her life wold have been different if she had married Lucio, the other suitor.
On the other hand, when Blas grew old enough to be 18 years of age, he even wanted to marry a girl named Tona. At this stage, we come to understand the dissatisfaction in Dodong's mind about marriage at a young age like himself which leaves all scopes that one could otherwise avail.
