according to the question, we don't know BC , so ,

let the BC ,
put the value ,


(50)^{2} = (40)^{2} + (bc)^{2}
50 \times 50 = 40 \times 40 + {bc}^{2}
2500 = 1600 + {bc}^{2}
2500 - 1600 = {bc}^{2}
900 = {bc}^{2}
 \sqrt{900} = bc
30 = bc
bc = 30
