A character sketch of Gangu:
Gangu was a brahmin servant. Like other servants bowed to his master Gangu did not and was not trying to please others like others did. Unlike Brahmins he was not educated and did not take bath regularly like other Brahmins did.
His broad perspective is exposed when he marries Gomti, who is a widowed woman inspite of people’s criticism and resent from the master. He was not bothered about it as he was already in love with her and accepts her inspite Gomti having a child from her prior marriage.
Therefore, Gangu has a changed personality before and after his marriage. He becomes kind and generous.
