The Jallianwala Massacre in 1919, on April 13, which took place under General Reginald Dyer, killed thousands of innocent non- violent protesting Indians in Punjab.
More than 1000 people were killed in the massacre when the army opened fire and closed the gates from all ends.
General Dyer was successful in his mission of causing a severe blow to the Indian spirits, which were broken by such gruesome act of the British.
But it also initiated the rebellious mode of the Indians which continued until there achieved freedom.
This act further deteriorated the relations between the Indians and the British.
