He was a combination of contradictions. His introduction of leather currency in place of coins was a step much ahead of his time. (The intrinsic value of a coin should not be more than its face value, to prevent the melting and selling the metal). his only mistake was to circulate the leather currency before withdrawing the coins. British minister Gresham made the same mistake in 19th century.
The shifting of capital to Daulatabad and moving the entire population back and forth was a result of poor planning probably due to poor advice received. We must remember that even Fatehpur Sikri was abandoned due to scarcity of water.
