In "The Road Not Taken" one path differs from the other in being slightly less worn, meaning that fewer people travel on it.Symbolically this road represent the unorthodox path through life.
One of the ironies of the poem is that the two path do not differ that much. As the speaker say coming to a fork in the road and having to make a decision to go one way or other way , both road have been worn with foot traffic. How ever he studied them , he notes that in fact, one road is more worn down than the other indicating that more people pick the path. The symbolic meaning emerged as we realized the two roads the traveler encounters represent the decision we all have make on the journey through life.
