Rizal was dissatisfied with the Dominican institution because Dominican academics were antagonistic to him. Spaniards discriminated against Filipino pupils and the teaching technique was outdated and oppressive.

How was Rizal as a student?

• It was normal schooling for a boy of an ilustrado family at the time, with the four R's (reading, writing, arithmetic, and religion) dominating the curriculum.
