Swami was reluctant to give the letter to the headmaster because he wasn't at all sure if he had been accurate in his description of his teacher. He could not decide how much of what he had said was imagined and how much of it was real. Samuel did not deserve the allegations that were put on him.

When Swami was standing in front of the School gate, he felt that he became the worst perjurer on earth as he didn't have any proof of Samuel's brutality. He wanted Samuel to justify the letter and waited for more time. For this cause, Swami didn't hand over the complaint letter to the headmaster in the morning
