Hey Friend:- Here is your answer......
Yes.
If the then British Prime Minister had not been so heavy-handed, if there had been any mustered spirit of compromise - then the colonial 'hawks' might well have not prevailed over the colonial 'doves' and war avoided.
The war was not inevitable. Not every colony in the world rises in rebellion against their mother nation. Canada is an independent sovereign nation as is New Zealand and Australia and none of those three countries fought a war with Great Britain to achieve it.
If I could refashion the past any one of these scenarios might have made that war unnecessary or unwanted.
1. The British Prime Minister finds another way to regain financial solvency without trying to tax the 13 colonies. (don't ask me what way)
2. Realizing that something very different is afoot in the colonies, a person of vision in Parliament stands up and says - 'This will end in war and that will not restore Britain to solvency but only increase the burden of debt we carry- forget about taxing these colonials - they take it most unkindly.'
The Revolutionary War flame was fanned by the colony of Massachusetts and the colony of Virginia - and that's not an accident. Each had their own reasons but both fell into the category of economics - where is money to be made and saved?
If the taxes had not been passed, Massachusetts would have remained happy and content. Perhaps not Virginia but one colony alone could not have brought that war on.
It could help you.........
