Yes,the Guru's technique of saving his disciple is ethical as per he was going to be executed by the foolish king and his minister without any reason.So,he just played a trick to save his disciple as he was innocent. As per in my opinion,executing a person just because he is fat and gets fit into the stake despite of the real culprit is not justice.
