Answer:
The three main reasons the regime fell revolve around taxes, personal freedom and abolishment of the caste system. Taxes for the third estate, or others, were high. The third estate was the majority of French and those not deemed nobility or clergy.

Answer:
France under the Ancien Régime (before the French Revolution) divided society into three estates: the First Estate (clergy); the Second Estate (nobility); and the Third Estate (commoners). The king was considered part of no estate. If a peasant sold a piece of land, he or she paid a sales tax, as well as an additional tax, on the money he or she received. These taxes were just too much for a hard working individual to pay; thus, this class system caused human life to be unequal. The causes of the French Revolution were that the Estate System was unfair, the government of France was into much debt, and was therefore taxing too much, and that people resented the power of the Church. The third estate was overtaxed because the government was in debt. ... This caused the third estate to demand reform.
