This question is taken from 'The Black Aeroplane' written by 'Frederick Forsyth'.
When the pilot asked a lady in the control room about the other aeroplane, he was surprised after listening her answer. She replied that, there was no other aeroplane flying on that evening. This indicates that, there was no other aeroplane. It was just the imagination of the pilot. When he was in trouble, he just imagined of other aeroplane and came out of it in a mysterious way. It was nothing more than his illusion.
