Was there any other option left for African-American athletes apart from raising their voices against discrimination?

c. The two athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos raised their clenched fists ,wore black gloves and bowed their heads while the American national anthem was sung at the Oympics. Their act symbolized black power and solidarity against racial discrimination. They  drew international attention to racial discrimination practised in United States.

d. They probably felt that it was the most appropriate time to get international support.

e. Though, they were alleged for politicising the entire event, both the athletes n worked as per their wisdom and discernment of events.

f. As they believed that time was ripe to draw everyone's attention.

g. They could have avoided mixing sports with politics and must have made use of  other forums like media, or dissent or even by not participating in the event, by boycotting it  they could have raised the matter.
