When washing soda and iron III chloride and common salt are separately exposed to the atmosphere, changes occurs as follows-

1. When sodium carbonate (washing soda) crystals expose to atmosphere, they tend to lose water of crystallization and transforms into white powder, and this process of loosing water of crystallization when exposed to air is known as Efflorescence.

2. When ferric chloride (Iron III chloride) expose to atmosphere FeCl3 absorbs moisture from the atmosphere and changes into its solution. FeCl3 compound gets hydrated and when restricted to room atmosphere, then compound lacks water of crystallization because it is anhydrous in nature.

3. Table salt holds impurities of calcium and magnesium chloride which are delinquencent, hence absorbs moisture from the atmosphere. Common salts become adherent and moist during humidity.
