according to biochemical waste management and handling rules 1998 of india "any wate which is generated during diagnosis, treatment or immunization of human beingsor animals or in research activities or in the production or testing of biological samples are reffered to as biochemical waste". improper disposal increases risk of infection and develops resistant microorganisms. mixing of hazardous waste with the non-hazardous waste results in contamination and makes the entire waste hazardous.

Waste management includes the activities and actions required to manage waste from its inception to its final disposal. This includes the collection, transport, treatment and disposal of waste, together with monitoring and regulation of the waste management process.
