- Gurugram: A report released by the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) in July of this year and accessed recently by a national daily has revealed that out of the 4,635.79 tonnes of garbage produced in the state each day, only 17.5 per cent is successfully treated and recycled. The HSPCB's annual report on solid waste management for the year 2018-2019 further adds that 78 per cent of this waste is sent to landfills while the remaining 14.5 per cent is never collected in the first place.
- Haryana and Faridabad together produce the largest amount of solid waste in the state at 1,236 tonnes per day (TPD) followed by Ambala-Karnal at 605 TPD and Sonepat-Panipat at 435 TPD. Out of the twelve other clusters, Rohtak generates 425 TPD, while the rest of the clusters reportedly generate below 300 TPD.
