Answer:

Terrestrial organisms take up oxygen from the atmosphere whereas aquatic animals obtain oxygen from water. Air contains more O2 as compared to water.

Since the content of O2 in air is high, the terrestrial animals do not have to breathe faster to get more oxygen.

Terrestrial organism obtains oxygen for respiration from the atmosphere where the oxygen content is high, whereas, aquatic organisms obtain oxygen dissolved in the water which is very low when compared to the amount in atmosphere.

Aquatic organisms use oxygen dissolved in surrounding water . Since air dissolved in water has fairly low concentration of oxygen , the aquatic organisms have much faster rate of breathing .

Terrestrial organisms take oxygen from

the oxygen-rich atmosphere through

respiratory organs . Hence , they have

much less breathing rate than aquatic

organisms .
