mesophyll cells are plant cells that contain the chloroplasts in their middle and they carry out the process of photosynthesis by enabling the gas exchange.

Mesophyll cells of leaves contain Chloroplast. Mesophyll cells have a thick layer of soft cells containing chloroplast. It lies between the epidermal layers of a plant leaf.  

A green pigment chlorophyll is present in chloroplasts. It traps light energy. The energy used in the food-making process called Photosynthesis. The central mesophyll tissues made up of Vascular Bundles.

Photosynthesis takes place in the mesophyll.

This can't happen without Sunlight.
