A- A PULLEY is a machine whose axis of rotation is variable.
It is of two types -:
1) Single Fixed Pulley -: A machine whose axis of rotation is fixed is called a single fixed pulley. It's used to change the direction of effort at a convenient point. Its M.A. and V.R. is equal to 1(for an ideal pulley).
2) Single Movable Pulley -: A machine whose axis of rotation is movable is called a single movable pulley. It acts as a force multiplier. Its M.A. and V.R. is equal to 2(for an ideal pulley).
Block & Tackle System -:
A pulley which consists of a block (fixed) and a tackle is called a Block & Tackle (movable) System.
In this system the number of pulleys in the upper block is greater than or equal to the number of pulleys in lower block.

a block and tackle is a system of two more pulley with the rope or cable thread between them usually used to lift heavy load ..the pulley are assemble to form together a form block and then block pair so that one is fixed and one moved to it....
