Prithviraj Chauhan was a great king of North western India ( Chahamana kingdom ). he was a great ruler of the Chauhan Dynasty. he ruled from 1178 to 1192. his kingdom consisted of Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and some parts of Punjab , Utthar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. his capital was Ajmer. he was a great ruler from pre-Islamic period.
He won many fights against Hindu rulers such as his cousin Nagarjuna, Bhadanakas, Chandela of Jejakabhukti, Chalukyas of Gujarat, Paramaras of Abu and Gahadavalas of Kannuj. He also defeated Muhammed Ghori in the First Battle of Tarain. although he got defeated by Muhammed Ghori in the Second battle of Tarain.
He was a great Rajput ruler. He would have won the battle against Muhammed Ghori the second time also if any of the neighboring kingdoms had come to his aid. after his defeat he was taken to ajmer to be under Ghori's rule. but as Prithviraj Chauhan started a rebellion against Muhammed , he was killed for Treason.
Despite of his defeat , He was a Great Ruler and a Excellent King among other Indian Kings. The people in his kingdom were very happy and prosperous during his rule.
