Given : Watch trader bought n watches which he intended to send as to earn 10% profit however 4 watches for damaged and hence could not be sold if the trader hikes the selling price of each watch by 25% he would still make 10%

To Find :  what is the value of n​

Solution:

Let say cost price of Watch = C

Seller intended to Earn 10% Profit

Hence selling Price = C + (10/100)C = 1.1C

Cost Price of n watches = nC

Selling price of n watches = 1.1nC  

trader hikes the selling price of each watch by 25%

=> SP = 1.1C + (25/100)1.1C  =  1.1C * 1.25

Selling price of n - 4  watches  = (n -4) (  1.1C * 1.25 )

(n -4) (  1.1C * 1.25 )  = 1.1nC  

=> (n - 4)1.25  =  n

=>  1.25n - 5  = n

=> 0.25n = 5

=> n = 5/0.25

=> n = 20

value of n​ = 20
