Yes,water played a important role in the development or establishment of Indus Valley Civilisation.Basically, the people of this civilisation made settlements near the rivers or on the bank of rivers. For example : Mohen-jo-daro is located on the right bank of the Indus river and Harappa was located on the left bank of the river Ravi. The water of the water bodies facilitated them in many aspects. Some of the aspects are as follows :
1)Water from the rivers help them in the crop production i.e. food production.
2)Water helped them from travel to one place to another easily by means of water transport such as boats.
3) Surplus food was produced.
4) This led to the evolution of cities because they developed their localties.
5)Water from the rivers was used to fill the Great Bath which is believed to be used for ritual purposes.
6)Rivers help them to carry on trade with other areas of India as well as with parts of central and south West Asia.
