Water can be purified by filteration but why do we still adopt the method of distillation

method of distillation is usually preferred for industrial or scientific purpose or in case of large supply of potable water from sea.usually method of distillation is used where the input energy cost is less . mostly filtration is used at households and small townships or industry where input energy cost is higher as compared to pure water yield.
