Total minute to fill vessel  = 109.95 minute.

Given:

  • Water drips from a tap at a rate of 4 drops every 3 seconds .
  • Volume of one drop of water is 0.4 cubic cm.
  • The outer diameter  of this vessel is 10 cm.
  • Uniform thickness of this vessel is 1 cm.
  • Height of this vessel is 70 cm.

Find:

      How many minutes will be required to fill the vessel completely.

Explanation:

  • Inside diameter of the vessel is 2 times less than thickens of the vessel because of both side thickness
  • Inside diameter of the vessel = 10 - (2×1)

                                                         =8 cm.

  • Volume of vessel = \frac{\pi }{4} ×(Inside diameter) ² × Height

                                      = \frac{\pi }{4} × 8² × 70

                                     =3518.58 cm³

  • 4 drops every 3 seconds and one drop =0.4 cm³
  • Therefore 4 drop = 4 × 0.4 = 1.6 cm³ for 3 second.
  • Therefore for 1 minutes total volume fill will be =1.6 ×\frac{60}{3}

                                                                                     = 32 cm³

  • Total minute to fill vessel = \frac{3518.58}{32}

                                                  = 109.95 minute.
