Water flows through the horizontal pipe of varying area of cross section at the rate of 15 cubic metres per minute.
Find the radius of pipe where water velocity is 3m/s

Volume of water flowing per second = R
= 15 / 60
= 0.25 m^3/s

R = Av
A = R / v
A = 0.25 / 3
A = 1/12 m^2

Area of cross section is 1/12 m^2

Radius of pipe = sqrt(1/(12 * π)) ……[∵ A = πr^2]
= 0.162 m
= 16.2 cm
