Lets assume water at room temp.(30°c).When Thai water is cooled it's temp. goes down. When it reaches 4°c its molecules compress hence more density and less volume at 4°c and when it reaches 0°c on further cooling it forms ice which has less density and more volume because it's molecules expand below 4°c.
