Distance covered by water in 30 min= velocity of water in m/hr *time in hrs =20000*30/60m=10000m. volume of water flown in 30 min =10000*30/10*12/10=36000. let the area irritated be X m= x*9/100=36000=x=36000*100/9=400000

velocity of water=10km/hr = 10000m/hr

volume of water flown in 1 hr through canal= 10000*30*12

                                                                       =3600000 meter cube

volume of water flown in 30 minutes = volume of water on field

3600000/2 = 8/100*a                 [where 'a' is the area in which field is irrigated]

1800000=0.08 * a

225000000 metre square=a

OR

225 km square=a
