as water is a slow conductor of heat...it will take longer time to heat a larger quantity of water whereas a small quantity of water will take less time to heat up

Explanation: Less amount of water boils faster in compare with more amount of water...Also in a cup the surface area is less than the surface area in bucket and we know with a smaller surface area compared to bucket, cup can retain more heat in cold climates.....hence the water in cup have higher temperature than water in bucket...
