Water always flows from higher level to lower level.

Air pressure is less on a mountain than at bottom, still there are water falls.

But if we take the force and pressure, resulting from the mass and earth pull on liquid, the force is downward not upward, as water is 1000 times heavier than air.

Water in the ‘waterfall flows’ from a ‘higher level to lower level’ due to gravity.

Explanation:

  • The earth and other planets has a property to pull any object within the gravitational field towards the centre of the earth.
  • The formula for Newton's law of gravitation is F=\frac{G M m}{r^{2}} where G is the universal gravitation constant, M is the mass of the earth, m is the mass of the water.
  • ‘R’ is the distance from the centre of the earth. Hence due to this force water from a higher level of the water falls to a lower level.
