eg within the given substance(water):
H and O are gases that combine to form water(liquid).
here the properties of the gases to be in its own form at the room temperature drastically changes.
This is one of the way in which water is proved to be a compound.

✍️Water is also a compound because it is made from more than one kind of element (oxygen and hydrogen). It is not a compound because it is made from atoms of only one element - oxygen. This type of molecule is called a diatomic molecule, a molecule made from two atoms of the same type....♥
