Answer:Water is not a mixture it is a compound.

Two reasons are:

Water has definite composition of hydrogen and oxygen which is property of compound.

Water is made of oxygen and hydrogen which are gases but water does not show the properties of its constituent elements.

And moreover it has fixed melting and boiling point.

water is a compound not a mixture.  When water is formed it does not have properties of either oxygen or hydrogen. We cannot seperate the constituents of water by simple physical method
