Water has an anamolous property. the density of water decreases as the Temperature decrease further from 4°C .
In cold countries where the Temperature is bellow freezing point, only the surface of the water freezes in ponds and rivers whereas the water is still liquid bellow the surface. this helps the aquatic animals to survive.
